Swamp pop , swamppop , or swamp-pop whichever way one chooses to spell it, it is related to cajun music. Swamp pop was first started in the 1950's when musicians started mixing the elements of cajun, rythmn & blues, gospel, and rock & roll.....and oh yea, I'm a Louisiana born on da bayou cajun.  I remember speaking cajun in school before I spoke english.  If you love cajun music, chances are you'll also love swamp pop. Swamp pop was given it's name by the British who liked the music from the La. swamps and the popular mix of music of southern Louisiana.
