Way down south in Louisian' deep in the heart of Cajun land

Down on the bayou, lived a Cajun man.

He had a heart as big as Texas, no one could deny

A friendly Cajun man they called Eli.

Eli had the strength of a bull but with kindness deep inside

The old folks say he had that gift since he was a child.

He'd give you the shirt off his back, if you were in need

But if you messed with him you had trouble with capital "T"

         Huntin' and fishin' in swamps of Cajun Land

         From down the bayou, everyone's friend

         Eli The Cajun Man!

Then on one rainy day, a stranger came by

Helped himself to a ton of fish thanks to Eli.

Now, Eli was no fool and was wise to the strangers ways

So he made up his mind that it was time to pay

Eli knew the bayous, better than any man

So he cut through the swamp and in no time at all

Caught him with the fish in his hands.

He said, stranger if you're hungry take only what you can eat

But if you're just a thief, say hello to alligator teeth!!!
